This SEO-optimized article explores the full cast of Detective Pikachu, highlighting key voices, recurring characters, and behind-the-scenes insights that enrich the franchise’s storytelling.
Who Is Detective Pikachu About?
Detective Pikachu (2022) reimagines Pikachu not as a Pokémon trainer pushing coated cheeks into battle, but as a sharp young detective solving a complex mystery in the vibrant, retro-futuristic world of Pallet Town. While inspired by the original game and anime, this film expands Pikachu’s role significantly, introducing a detective kit, clues, and a case that unfolds across airships, secret passages, and clever deductions.
The Main Cast: Who Voices the Characters?
Pikachu — voiced with signature charm and youthful energy — is carried by Frederique van der forest, a voice actress celebrated for capturing energetic, expressive characters. Her vocal performance balances Pikachu’s playful innocence with enough curiosity and tenacity to sustain the investigation.
Company-wide, the fan-favoriteputer—an English voice artist—delivers a cast lined with nuanced performances:
-
Professor Blue: The intrepid detective mentoring young Pikachu, voiced by David Hayter, known for his iconic legacy as the original Green Pokémon’s trainer and esteemed voice artist. His authoritative yet warm tone grounds the detective narrative.
-
Lilia: Pikachu’s loyal childhood friend, voiced by Natalie Palamides (also known for voicing Jynx in The Legend of Vėlkanas), infusing the character with loyalty and comic bounce.
-
The Polliwiss — Pikachu’s quirky allies — animated with distinct voices enhancing both humor and emotional depth, voiced by members of没 labels’ extensive voice cast including Shelley Boreman, Tom Kenny (known for blending multiple Pokémon voices), and rotating seasonal performers adding fresh tonal variety.
Supporting Characters and Villains
-
Brian Whimsy: The comic antagonist and rival detective, voiced by James Urbaniak, whose sharp wit and improvisational flair elevate the film’s mystery elements.
-
The Frankin conspiracy — voiced by a team of character actors, including Seth Green and lesser-known but vital guest voices, reinforcing the sinister backend of Pallet Town’s elite.
-
Vendi Kai: The enigmatic rival whose clues and puzzles challenge Pikachu, voiced fully by Mika Goto in the Japanese version; in English, her role is interpreted by scene-recast talent with consistent mystery-driven resonance.
